How do we wash what is spotted and blemished from ourselves and from others? With well chosen words. With the Word of God as well as our own words. Do we continually blast away as with a fire hose? No. Usually, we gently and repeatedly soak and rinse. Behold the divine mystery… We are pronounced clean – and then we are cleansed. Let us rejoice in our washing of water by the word.
