Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:17 ~KJV
The will of the Lord is both a monumental thing and a small thing. We must first learn to perceive it and then learn to do it by His enablement. We prove ourselves in lesser matters before the higher challenges are given to us. We quietly listen for His leading in order to hear His voice.
On the one hand, the sovereign will of the Lord is irresistible. Yet, our own reaction to HIS specific direction to us personally is an unknown quantity. We play a big part in determining that outcome. We need His focus, His anointing, and His voice to direct our efforts without waste and aimless wandering.
Most of the Father’s will is plainly revealed to us already in scripture. But we are often clogged up or overwhelmed with the plainly revealed will of God which we have not yet acted upon. It is one thing to know the good that is in your hand to do but something else to take the time and resources to actually do it. Acts of obedience that crucify selfishness can help us to overcome our stubborn pride.
There is, however, a personal and individual path of God’s destiny for you that is not specifically revealed in the cannon of scripture. That path can be discerned by praying, listening closely and taking steps to walking it out. Then we will learn to understand “what the will of the Lord is“.
