Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; ~ Ephesians 5:1 -KJV
Little children follow their parent’s footsteps. They duplicate their parent’s actions. Their eye is on parental example and when not directly scrutinizing, they are indirectly influenced by the constant association. Subconsciously they obtain their parent’s language, mannerisms and manners, (or lack thereof). When family connections are loosened or detached, other influences begin to tutor their subconscious.
A child is imprinted with the genetic stamp of their relational bloodline. New creations are born-again into the likeness of the invisible Trinity. New believers blossom forth into recognizable similes of Christ-like-ness when nurtured and separated from ungodly influence. When light is present, growth happens… first the sprout, then the branch and eventually the fully ripened fruit.
The family protects a precious child from exposure to dark and dangerous paths. Children are also influenced greatly by their more mature brothers and sisters. Our loving Father cherishes his beloved and highly esteemed “dear children”.
