Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)               ~ Ephesians 6:2   -KJV

We can obey out of fear. Or we might also out of love. Honor brings obedience to a higher level for it carries an awareness of the value of who is being obeyed. The last-days generation is predictably disrespectful of parents. Though some parents are more honorable than others, we should strive for inter-family honor at all times. Following back to the root word tino meaning to pay… we fix a dear value upon our parents and pay them reverence accordingly.

That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.               ~Ephesians 6:3   -KJV

Your parents grant you the gift of life. They are often tricked into having you by the beauty of their youth. But the reward you can deliver them as a wise child will last eternally and may well benefit them in this life. Paul here provides for an endowment of life insurance as well as financial wellness if we pay the premium of honor and obedience to our parents. Do you wish to do well? See to it that your parents are doing well. Are revival and deep theology in your midst? Really? How are you treating our parents? There is great potential in family power. Nation states were built out of family’s in ages past. “One good mother is worth a hundred school-masters”.
