Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?       ~ Romans 6:3  -KJV

This burying of ourselves through baptism is an appropriate illustration of what needs to be done with our carnal synergies. Sin in the flesh is not beaten in hand to hand combat through on-going wrestling between the old man and the new man. Sin is beaten when it is put far enough under that it cannot breath and grow and bear its bad fruit. The application of death to things that deserve to die and must die is part of the process of walking into our newness of life in Christ. Be sure to let those things be permanently put to rest and not resuscitated. Walking  first in the Spirit and then in the flesh, your life is confused and opposes itself. Burying the sin-ruled aspects of your old life allows your walk to be continually guided by the Spirit. I do not say that you are dominated by the Spirit, because the Spirit continually partners with your capacity of choice. Our Father wants to see that you are choosing Him.
